Snowy days and transitions

Feb 25, 2026

The 12 inches of snow was lovely and quiet as it fell. The nearby fields are still pristine white, but with so much falling, snow mounds grew as we dug out. Moving around outside became  precarious  for cars and on foot. Then the "dirty snow" /slushy ice came along with the warming temperatures, and  became an eyesore. The  white snow mounds now look like muddy wet slush, wet and cold.
I have always loved the fresh clean quiet snowfalls, but like so much in life, we then need to contend with the transition or “ in between time” which can be messy.

Often I hear, "I am so over this cold weather"  or "I can't wait for spring". I tend to want to agree, but these statements also remind me of my own impatience with the "mucky mess" in-between. It really is a desire to be in the next season without the transition phase.
Transitions can be a good thing...a time to reflect and prepare, whether it be seasonal changes or personal changes. The lessons learned during these "in between" times can be invaluable...even if it is only to re-learn patience and grace.
