Balance....so what is that?

HEY there!!!
What comes to mind with the word "Balance"??
*Riding a bike? *Handling a few dozen eggs?
*Work/Home Life?
As a wife, Mom/Grandma we usually have many things "yelling" for attention. So how do we know which things to prioritize? Often we hear talk of "finding a balance", but is there such a thing? If there is, will it remain the same always? So, how DO we prioritize our time and attention?
I will be honest here, I tend to run into "the guilties" over this issue, tending to feel as if I should do more, somehow. Can we just stop here for a second to re-examine motivation? I find that if I can stop my activity (and pause my running thoughts) for a few moments, I can find a bit more clarity. The few moments of stillness often help me find my way. The urgent sounding demands tend to jar me and cause frantic activity that is not often helpful. In the quiet moment, I can find my inner motivation for a more productive use of my time and resources. I am learning to keep my mental focus on my own priorities and values verses the clamor that lies outside of me.
I realize that we may not always get the option of deciding what to prioritize, because, well, life happens. However, when it is possible, I believe that a moment of two to calm and quiet my inner world, helps clarify the next steps ahead of me.
How do you handle urgent requests/demands on your time and resources? It's a good question to ask.
